Description
Lovely small bright flowers on short stems, chionodoxa (Greek for 'glory of the snow') is an Eastern Mediterranean alpine plant that often blooms through snow, as does the crocus. There are just a few species, similar in appearance, and naturalized in several continents. I got close to the ground and photographed these little beauties in early April in a Pennsylvania garden.
