Description
Beautiful Himalayan Blue Poppies, meconopsis betonicifolia, with blue petals sometimes with purple highlights, globular golden orange stamen and light green pistil. Impossible to grow without duplicating a Himalayan climate, we lucky lowlanders occasionally get to see them in botanical gardens.

Beautiful floral display, Byron! The petals look as soft as satin! fv :)
Byron Varvarigos replied:
Thanks so much, Darlene! You know, I've never touched the petals.......this year I might dare a gentle pinky stroke! : )

Fabulous study...kept asking myself, where in the world does he find such flowers...am I jealous? Yes; sorry to say. Thanks for sharing.
Byron Varvarigos replied:
Thanks for sharing, Richard. No need to be sorry about a natural response--I envy the folks in tropical areas that get to see stunning sunsets so often and the folks out west who live with mountains and big sky and stunning landscapes. Here in the Philadelphia-Wilmington region we're blessed with some world-class botanical gardens, where I get most of my photos, and I'm most grateful for that, as you must be happy for the charms of Europe! : )
