Description
This beautiful lotus flower was but a bud on July 4. Today, July 5, it is freshly open, and with stamen and anthers becoming visible, about to call to pollinators. I plan to check back tomorrow or Sunday to see its continued glorious blooming. This is the second lotus to bloom this year at Chanticleer garden; the first beautiful, too, but not positioned well for best photography. Photographed on a very sunny mid-morning. Suitable for large prints! (all images copyrighted; watermarks do not appear on prints). July 6 update: Got here when the garden opened, 10 am. All petals had fallen open, exposing white inside, and the now-yellow seed capsule with stamen and pistil parts. Could not get a great shot, but there are other lotuses in that state shown in my lotus gallery, if you'd like to take a look.

Byron,I just thought I'd flick through all the images of yours I haven't seen since last time and then go back to comment, but I'm completely stopped here ! How immensely satisfying it must be to take as sublime a photo as this.No wonder there are so many traditional meditative Chinese paintings of lotus .You capture with your camera what they did with their brushes.v/f

Dear Jane, I'm most grateful for having seen and limned this lovely lotus with my camera. So glad you like, though I'm not sure my skills warrant your most generous praise! : )
